Disney Completes Purchase of Hulu

Walt Disney announced on Monday that it has finalized its acquisition of Hulu, with an additional payment of $438.7 million to NBCUniversal for its stake in the streaming service.

With this transaction, Disney now has full ownership of Hulu, paving the way for a closer integration with the Disney+ streaming service and ESPN’s upcoming direct-to-consumer offering, according to CEO Bob Iger.

In 2019, Comcast agreed to sell Disney its 33% stake in Hulu, following Disney’s majority stake acquisition as part of its $71 billion takeover of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets.

The agreement set a $27.5 billion floor valuation for Hulu and involved a third-party appraisal to determine the final valuation.
