Don’t call us just a WLFI treasury company, says AI Financial

AI Financial, previously known as Alt5 Sigma, is making a point to clarify that it is not just a treasury company with WLFI token holdings. The company has a diverse range of operations in the fintech and digital payments space, as well as involvement in digital assets, settlement infrastructure, tokenization, and next-generation financial technologies.

According to a spokesperson from AI Financial, the company runs ALT5 Pay, a crypto payments platform, and ALT5 Prime, an over-the-counter digital asset trading business. In addition to these, AI Financial has recently acquired Block Street, a tokenization and ICO infrastructure firm, and signed a commercial agreement with SuperQ Quantum. The company has also outlined plans for further expansion into digital financial infrastructure.

However, a recent SEC filing by AI Financial painted a different picture of the company’s financial situation. The filing revealed that the company held 7.28 billion WLFI tokens, valued at $706.4 million at the end of March. This was a decrease from the acquisition cost of $1.46 billion. Despite generating $4.7 million in quarterly revenue from its fintech business, AI Financial reported recurring losses and a working capital deficit of $5.5 million, raising concerns about its ability to continue operating.

Furthermore, the company’s WLFI holdings are contractually locked, limiting its ability to convert the asset into cash. With only $10.5 million in cash on hand at the end of the quarter, AI Financial faces challenges in maintaining liquidity.

AI Financial’s close relationship with WLFI is evident through the involvement of World Liberty CEO Zach Witkoff and co-founder Zachary Folkman in the company’s leadership. WLFI has also provided a $15 million loan to AI Financial, secured by WLFI tokens, and holds rights equivalent to 46% of its fully diluted equity.

Despite its efforts to diversify its operations, AI Financial’s SEC filing indicates that WLFI continues to play a significant role in defining the company’s financial narrative. Unlike traditional digital asset treasury companies, AI Financial’s relationship with WLFI is multifaceted, with governance, lending, and equity ties between the two entities.

As investors evaluate AI Financial, they will need to consider the complexities of its relationship with WLFI and assess the company’s broader fintech and digital infrastructure platform. While AI Financial aims to expand its reach in the digital financial space, the shadow of WLFI looms large over its financial outlook.
