Duke broadcaster calls for technical foul on UConn after season-ending dagger

The Duke Blue Devils suffered a heartbreaking defeat at the hands of the UConn Huskies in the Elite Eight, as captured by radio broadcaster David Shumate. The game came down to the wire, with UConn’s Braylon Mullins hitting a deep 3-pointer in the closing seconds to secure a 73-72 victory. Shumate’s deflated tone turned to outrage as he called for a technical foul on UConn’s Malachi Smith for allegedly running onto the court in celebration.

Despite the controversial ending, the Huskies emerged victorious, punching their ticket to the Final Four in Indianapolis. UConn radio broadcaster Mike Crispino, on the other hand, was jubilant as he called the game-winning play, with Mullins sinking a 35-foot shot to seal the deal.

The shot by Mullins will go down in UConn lore as one of the most memorable moments in the team’s history. The Huskies staged an incredible comeback, reminiscent of Louisville’s historic rally from a 20-point deficit in 2005.

Looking ahead, UConn will face off against Illinois in the Final Four with a chance to advance to the national championship game for the third time in four years. The stage is set for an epic showdown as the Huskies aim to continue their impressive tournament run.
