Erewhon’s new $11 spicy bone broth hot chocolate
One of LA’s most upscale grocery stores is putting a unique twist on a classic winter beverage this holiday season – bone broth hot chocolate. Erewhon, known for its extravagant offerings, is now serving up a Spicy Bone Broth Hot Chocolate for $11 a cup, with a complimentary drink available for members once a month.
This seasonal drink is a collaboration with FOND Regenerative, a bone broth company that touts the digestive benefits of bone broth. The unusual concoction includes FOND’s beef ginger broth, cayenne, coconut milk, maple syrup, cacao powder, and cinnamon. While some have found the drink enjoyable, others have described it as “vomitous.”
In a humorous video posted on Instagram, influencer Ginger Gonzaga shared her thoughts on the unique beverage, jokingly calling it “bile in a cup.” Despite her comedic criticism, she admitted that the drink is not for everyone.
When The Post visited the Beverly Hills Erewhon location to sample the hot chocolate, a fresh batch had to be made due to the demand. The cashier warned that the drink may not be to everyone’s taste, with many opting for traditional hot chocolate instead.
The Bone Broth Hot Chocolate offers a unique flavor profile, combining mild chocolate with ginger and a spicy kick at the end. While the concept of bone broth hot chocolate may seem unusual, it has gained popularity on social media as wellness enthusiasts experiment with DIY versions to harness its supposed healing benefits.
According to the National Library of Medicine, bone broth has been historically revered for its health benefits and is considered a traditional remedy for various ailments. The limited-time offering at Erewhon will be available until the end of December, giving curious customers a chance to try this unconventional holiday beverage.
