FDNY Probationary Firefighter Pulls Off Incredible Proposal During Family Day Event

A probationary firefighter at the FDNY recently made headlines not only for his heroic actions on the job but also for his romantic gesture during the department’s Family Day event on Randall’s Island. Jayson Ralph surprised his girlfriend, Dasia Moore, with a proposal that left everyone in attendance in awe.

The heartwarming moment took place as Ralph rappelled down a building in full gear, with Moore watching from a window ledge, unknowingly awaiting a surprise. As he “rescued” her from the mock fire, Ralph dropped to one knee and popped the question, leaving Moore in shock.

Surrounded by fellow firefighters holding out letters that spelled “Marry me,” Ralph’s proposal was a true team effort. The FDNY shared the heartwarming moment on social media, garnering an outpouring of love and support for the newly engaged couple.

Family Day is a special event where probationary firefighters showcase their skills to family and friends before graduating from the academy. The drills include mock rescues and firehose demonstrations, giving loved ones a glimpse into the rigorous training these brave men and women undergo.

Following the engagement, social media was ablaze with congratulations and well wishes for the happy couple. Users praised the creative proposal and the sense of camaraderie among the firefighters who helped make it happen.

Just days before the proposal, a Brooklyn high school focused on FDNY training held its graduation ceremony, with many graduates expected to join the ranks of the department soon. City Council members are advocating for increased funding to expand the department’s staffing to address growing challenges, such as fires caused by lithium-ion batteries.

With lawmakers like Bronx representative Kevin Riley leading the charge, the FDNY is poised to receive additional resources to enhance public safety and support the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day.
