Fifth Season, Mary Lisio to Launch New Non-Scripted Production Banner
Fifth Season Launches Quite Contrary Pictures
Fifth Season has recently announced the exciting launch of Quite Contrary Pictures, a new non-scripted and documentary production banner led by the talented Emmy-winning executive Mary Lisio.
Quite Contrary Pictures will be the new hub for all non-scripted projects at Fifth Season. Mary Lisio will take on the role of president at Quite Contrary, where she will develop a diverse slate of documentary features, docuseries, and reality formats, collaborating with talent, production partners, and intellectual property.
Joining Lisio at Quite Contrary are several senior executives from Fifth Season’s nonfiction division, including executive producer Elissa Johnson. Together, they will continue to work closely with the studio’s global team, including CEO Graham Taylor and longtime collaborator Ariel Richter.
Prior to her role at Fifth Season, Lisio held executive positions at Blumhouse Television and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free and RSA Films. Her impressive track record includes winning an Emmy for the History Channel feature “Gettysburg” and receiving nominations for “Killing Jesus” and “Killing Kennedy” for National Geographic.
Graham Taylor expressed his admiration for Lisio, stating, “Mary is a singular executive whose expertise and vision have been instrumental in building Fifth Season’s impressive non-scripted slate. Establishing Quite Contrary as a new banner for this work will enable Mary and the team to further expand our non-scripted storytelling capabilities and adapt to the rapidly changing industry landscape.”
Lisio also shared her excitement about the new venture, stating, “Quite Contrary represents a natural progression of the work we have been doing at Fifth Season. With this new platform, we are well-positioned to create compelling non-scripted and documentary content for a wide audience. I am grateful for the ongoing support from Graham, Ariel, and the entire Fifth Season team, and I am eager to continue building on our shared successes.”
Some of Fifth Season’s recent non-scripted projects include “Folktales,” “Death Cap: The Mushroom Murders,” and the upcoming “Earth, Wind, & Fire” documentary. The studio’s nonfiction lineup also features titles like “McCartney 3, 2, 1,” “Being Mary Tyler Moore,” and “Superpower.”
