Ford recalls more than 177,000 vehicles over faulty wiper, drivetrain and other issues

Ford Motor is issuing a recall for more than 177,000 vehicles due to three separate defects, as reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recall includes the following vehicles:

– 67,842 Mustang (2024-26 model years) and Mustang GTD (2025-26 model years) vehicles are being recalled for a malfunction in the windshield wiper and washing system. This issue can occur in cold temperatures, causing the wipers to only function at their high-speed setting and the washing system to fail completely.

– 42,784 Mustang Mach E (2021-23 model years) vehicles are being recalled due to a pinion shaft fracture risk. This problem could result in a loss of drive power or cause a parked vehicle to move if the parking brake is not engaged.

– 66,383 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid (2024-27 model years) and Explorer Hybrid (2025-27 model years) vehicles are being recalled because of a software error that can prevent them from producing a pedestrian warning sound.

Affected vehicle owners are urged to take their cars to dealers for necessary repairs, which will be done free of charge. Letters will be sent out to inform owners of the safety risk, and the NHTSA recall numbers are 26V418000, 26V417000, and 26V415000 for the respective recalls.

In addition to these recalls, Ford recently recalled over 741,000 vehicles in late June for a faulty park system that could lead to cars rolling away unexpectedly.

This new information is crucial for Ford vehicle owners to ensure the safety and functionality of their vehicles. Stay updated on any recall information and take necessary actions promptly to address any potential safety risks.
