Fox Wins Rights to Show NFL Games in Mexico

Mexico is set to receive even more American football content in the near future. Fox Corp. has announced a new deal that will bring a wide range of NFL games to Mexican audiences, including popular events such as “Thursday Night Football” and the Super Bowl. This partnership highlights the ongoing collaboration between the NFL and various U.S. media outlets as the league looks to secure its next round of media rights deals in light of the continued popularity of its games.

As part of the agreement, Fox will broadcast NFL games and other related events through its linear TV channels, as well as its streaming services Fox One and Tubi. Additionally, Fox will produce four weekly original programs dedicated to the NFL specifically for Mexican fans, including fantasy football-focused shows.

The comprehensive package of games available to Mexican viewers will encompass a variety of exciting matchups, including Thursday Night Football, regular-season Sunday games, Thanksgiving games, NFC playoff games, the Pro Bowl, and the Super Bowl.

This deal comes at a time when speculation is mounting that the NFL may look to renegotiate its existing contracts with media partners such as Fox, Paramount Skydance, NBCUniversal, and Amazon. The league is reportedly considering utilizing an “opt-out” clause in these agreements in order to secure higher fees from these companies. This strategy is motivated by the recent success of the NBA in negotiating increased fees with new broadcast partners like Disney’s ESPN, Amazon, and NBC.

Carlos Martínez, executive vice president of Fox’s Latin American operations, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded NFL content coming to Mexico, emphasizing the country’s passion for football. He stated, “Mexico is a market with an enormous passion for football, and we are proud to offer fans a sizeable NFL package in the country, with a robust content experience designed to engage audiences throughout the entire year.”

With this new partnership between Fox and the NFL, Mexican fans can look forward to a more immersive and engaging American football viewing experience. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting collaboration.
