Freddie Highmore, David Shore, Sony TV and Crave Pact for Series
The dynamic duo of Freddie Highmore and David Shore, known for their work on “The Good Doctor,” have joined forces once again for a new drama series titled “I’m Not Here to Hurt You.” This exciting project has been ordered by Canada’s Crave streamer, which is also home to the popular drama series “Heated Rivalry.”
Collaborating with Sony Pictures Television, Crave and Sony have jointly commissioned the series, with Sony planning to shop the show to buyers in the U.S. and internationally. This unique approach highlights Sony’s confidence in the show’s potential to garner strong demand across major territories. Produced by John Morayniss’ Blink49 Studios, “I’m Not Here” is set to make a big splash in the international market during the L.A. Screenings meetings.
Described as an offbeat tale, “I’m Not Here to Hurt You” follows the story of a man who, after a fatal bicycle accident, spirals into a life of crime in an attempt to avoid causing harm to others. Based on a podcast of the same name hosted by Kevin Doyle, the series is co-created by Shore and Highmore.
Speaking about their reunion, Shore and Highmore expressed their excitement to collaborate once again and their gratitude for the continued support from Sony. Shore, a sought-after showrunner, is also working on a contemporary remake of “The Rockford Files” for NBC and a legal drama titled “Conviction” starring Elisabeth Moss.
Crave, owned by Bell Media, aims to build on the success of “Heated Rivalry” with “I’m Not Here to Hurt You,” which boasts top-notch talent in Shore and Highmore. This new series marks a significant milestone for Crave as they continue to expand their portfolio of premium original content with global appeal.
Blink49 Studios, led by industry veteran John Morayniss, views “I’m Not Here to Hurt You” as a compelling and emotionally complex series with immense international potential. The collaboration with Bell Media and Sony Pictures Television is set to bring this exceptional story to audiences worldwide.
Highmore and Shore will serve as executive producers on the project, alongside Claire Londy for Highmore’s Alfresco Pictures and Erin Gunn for Shore’s ShoreZ banner. With their track record of creating richly layered characters, the duo is poised to deliver another captivating series that resonates with audiences.
