Hey Donald And Melania, Jimmy’s Just A Comedian And Jokes Are Jokes

George Clooney has expressed support for Jimmy Kimmel amidst Kimmel’s recent clash with the Trumps over a controversial joke aimed at Melania Trump.
At the 51st Chaplin Award Gala on Monday night, Clooney defended Kimmel by emphasizing that Jimmy is a comedian and that jokes should be taken as such, addressing the ongoing controversy.
Following Kimmel’s skit last Thursday, where he joked about Melania having the “glow of an expectant widow” at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, President Trump and Melania called for Jimmy to be fired from ABC.
Subsequently, an alleged gunman disrupted the WHCD event on Saturday night, leading to its cancellation.
Clooney highlighted that Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s spokesperson, also made a remark about “shots fired” to a FOX News reporter prior to the WHCD incident, clarifying that it was not meant literally.
Clooney warned about the impact of dangerous rhetoric in the current climate, emphasizing that while jokes are meant for entertainment, the language used can have serious consequences.
Despite the pressure from the Trumps, Jimmy Kimmel stood by his comedic approach on his show, echoing Clooney’s sentiments that his intention was to entertain with humor, not to offend.
George Clooney was honored at the Chaplin Award Gala for his remarkable contributions to Hollywood, marking a celebration of his illustrious career in the industry.
