‘Great North’ Canceled After Five Seasons at Fox

The Great North Canceled After Five Seasons

After five seasons on Fox, “The Great North” has been canceled, as reported by Variety. The news was confirmed by Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, who expressed gratitude for the efforts of the creators, cast, and crew. Thorn mentioned that while it’s sad to say goodbye, the network appreciates the five hilarious seasons the show brought to the iconic Animation Domination lineup.

“The Great North” originally premiered on Fox in January 2021 and concluded its fifth and final season in September 2025. The series was created and written by Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, and Minty Lewis, all of whom are executive producers on “Bob’s Burgers.” Loren Bouchard, the creator of “Bob’s Burgers,” also served as an executive producer on “The Great North.” The show was produced by 20th Television Animation and animated by Bento Box Entertainment.

The cast of “The Great North” included Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Will Forte, Paul Rust, Aparna Nancherla, Dulce Sloan, Megan Mullally, and Alanis Morissette. The show followed the Alaskan adventures of the Tobin family, with single dad Beef (Offerman) trying to keep his kids close, especially his daughter Judy (Slate), who pursues her artistic dreams.

Fox recently announced renewals for other animated shows like “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” and “Bob’s Burgers” for four more seasons each. “American Dad” is also coming back for the 2025-2026 season with a four-season pickup. The network’s animated lineup includes shows like “Krapopolis,” “Grimsburg,” and “Universal Basic Guys.”
