Hyun Bin’s ‘Made In Korea’ Tops Disney+ Asia Pacific Charts

Disney+ has officially announced that “Made In Korea” has become the most-viewed Korean original premiere of 2025 on the streaming platform across Asia-Pacific markets. This achievement is based on viewership figures recorded 28 days after its debut on December 24th.

The crime noir series is set in 1970s Korea and follows the story of Baek Kitae, played by Hyun Bin, who is a Korean Central Intelligence Agency operative leading a double life as a government agent and smuggler. Kitae uses his illegal activities to climb the ranks within the agency, all while protecting his brother. However, his rise to power is challenged by an incorruptible prosecutor, portrayed by Jung Woosung, leading to a high-stakes confrontation between the two men.

In addition to Hyun Bin and Jung Woosung, the series also features Woo Dohwan as Kitae’s brother Baek Kihyun. “Made In Korea” was written by Park Eunkyo and Park Joonseok, with Woo Minho serving as the director. The production company behind the series is Hive Media Corp.

Due to its success, Disney+ has already renewed “Made In Korea” for a second season, with production already underway. The renewal was announced at Disney+’s originals preview event at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2025.

The popularity of “Made In Korea” adds to Disney+’s strong year in the region, with the platform releasing over a dozen APAC series including “Hyper Knife,” “Tempest,” “The Manipulated,” “Nine Puzzles,” and the second season of “Gannibal.”

Hyun Bin, known for his roles in “Crash Landing On You” and “Confidential Assignment,” stars in the series alongside Jung Woosung, whose credits include “12.12: The Day” and “Hunt.” Woo Dohwan, who has appeared in “Bloodhounds” and “Mr. Plankton,” plays Kitae’s brother in the series.

Director Woo Minho, known for films like “The Man Standing Next” and “Inside Men,” helms the series, while Hive Media Corp, the production company behind the show, has previously worked on projects such as “12.12: The Day.”

Overall, the success of “Made In Korea” showcases Disney+’s commitment to delivering high-quality content in the Asia-Pacific region and further solidifies the platform’s position as a leader in the streaming industry.
