Illinois Gov. Pritzker floats wild conspiracy theory that Trump has ‘other aims’ for deploying National Guard to blue cities
Democratic Illinois Governor JB Pritzker recently made a bold claim regarding President Trump’s potential deployment of National Guard troops to Chicago and other crime-ridden cities. Pritzker suggested that Trump’s true intentions may be to interfere with the 2026 elections or even take control of them by using troops on the ground. However, the White House dismissed these allegations, with a spokesperson emphasizing the urgent need to address the longstanding crime crisis in Chicago.
Chicago has been grappling with a surge in violence, with 35 people shot over Labor Day weekend alone, including five fatalities. The city has consistently recorded higher murder rates than other major cities like New York City and Los Angeles. Despite these grim statistics, Governor Pritzker has been resistant to the idea of deploying National Guard troops, arguing that such action is unnecessary and could potentially escalate tensions.
President Trump, on the other hand, has been vocal about his intentions to address the crime wave in Chicago. He criticized Pritzker for his reluctance to accept federal assistance and warned of possible troop deployment if the situation does not improve swiftly. The President’s previous actions in deploying National Guard troops to Washington, DC, and California have yielded positive results in combating crime and restoring order.
In response to the escalating tensions between the Governor and the White House, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem accused Pritzker of prioritizing his ego over the safety of Chicago residents. She suggested that collaboration with federal agencies, such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI, could be more beneficial in addressing the root causes of crime in the city.
While Governor Pritzker remains adamant about his stance against the deployment of National Guard troops, the White House has not ruled out the possibility of taking action to curb the violence in Chicago. As the debate intensifies, it is crucial for both parties to prioritize the safety and well-being of the city’s residents above all else.
