Jon Stewart Slams Trump for Accepting ‘Fictitious’ Peace Prize

Jon Stewart Criticizes Donald Trump for Accepting FIFA Peace Prize Amid Escalating Tensions with Venezuela

On the latest episode of “The Daily Show,” host Jon Stewart didn’t hold back in calling out President Donald Trump for accepting FIFA’s inaugural Peace Prize while simultaneously ramping up tensions between the United States and Venezuela.

Stewart opened the show by highlighting the FIFA World Cup draw, where the groups for the upcoming tournament were revealed. However, the focus quickly shifted to the highly anticipated announcement of the recipient of FIFA’s first Peace Prize.

“Who would win FIFA’s first Peace Prize?” Stewart quipped, setting the stage for the big reveal.

To the surprise of many, FIFA president Gianni Infantino announced Trump as the recipient of the prestigious award.

Stewart reacted with mock astonishment, exclaiming, “He won the prize specifically created to appease him! The FIFA appease-prize!”

However, the irony of Trump accepting a peace prize was not lost on Stewart, especially as news reports surfaced about escalating tensions between the US and Venezuela.

“The brink of war? President Trump, did this meaningless award mean nothing to you?” Stewart questioned, highlighting the disconnect between the Peace Prize ceremony and the reality of geopolitical tensions.

As reports emerged of the US military increasing its presence near Venezuela, Stewart couldn’t help but make light of the situation, joking about the Pentagon “surging battleships towards the coast” and comparing it to a bachelorette party show of force.

Watch the full monologue from “The Daily Show” to see Stewart’s sharp commentary on the juxtaposition of Trump accepting a peace prize while tensions with Venezuela escalate.
