Knife-wielding maniac terrorizes California neighborhood

A terrifying incident unfolded in a Sacramento neighborhood as a knife-wielding man, identified as Brian Mattson, was arrested for criminal trespassing after causing panic among residents. The shocking moment was captured on video as Mattson appeared on the porch of Rebecca Breen’s home, brandishing a knife and making threatening gestures.

According to Breen, the experience was absolutely terrifying as they heard a loud knock and witnessed the disturbing scene on their Ring camera. Multiple neighbors frantically called the police as Mattson went door to door with a knife, causing fear and alarm in the community. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Lt. Amar Gandhi described the situation as scary, emphasizing the importance of residents locking their doors, staying inside, and contacting authorities.

Despite fleeing the scene upon police arrival, Mattson was apprehended on Saturday morning. Surprisingly, despite being on felony probation, he was only charged with criminal trespassing and released shortly after being booked. However, he was arrested again later that same day for another trespassing incident.

As of Saturday evening, Mattson remained in custody, providing some relief to the shaken residents. Breen expressed her belief that her family was not specifically targeted but emphasized the fear and uncertainty that such incidents bring. She highlighted the importance of vigilance and community safety, noting that Mattson’s erratic behavior posed a danger to anyone he encountered.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of staying alert and contacting authorities in case of suspicious or threatening behavior. The swift response of law enforcement and cooperation of residents played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the neighborhood. As the community recovers from this unsettling event, it’s essential to remain vigilant and prioritize safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
