Kresus secures $13M investment from Hanwha to scale wallet and RWA tokenization tech

Wallet infrastructure firm Kresus Labs recently announced that it has secured approximately 18 billion won ($13 million) in investment from Hanwha Investment & Securities, one of South Korea’s leading financial institutions. This investment comes after a memorandum of understanding was signed in December at Abu Dhabi Finance Week and is intended to support the expansion of Kresus’ enterprise digital wallet infrastructure, real-world asset (RWA) tokenization platforms, and on-chain financial workflows.

Kresus is known for developing digital asset tools for both consumers and institutions, including innovative technologies such as “seedless” wallet recovery and multi-party computation (MPC)-based security systems. Seedless recovery, in particular, allows users to regain access to their digital assets stored in a wallet without the need for the traditional stream of random words, making it more user-friendly for a wider audience.

In addition to these tools, Kresus also operates wallet infrastructure and tokenization platforms that are designed to meet institutional compliance and operational requirements. This focus on compliance and security is particularly important for established financial firms looking to deepen their engagement with blockchain-based markets.

Hanwha Investment & Securities plans to leverage Kresus’ technology to enhance its client-facing digital asset services and develop tokenized versions of traditional financial products. By integrating Kresus’ solutions, Hanwha aims to address key challenges related to wallet security and compliant tokenization frameworks.

This investment highlights the continued interest from institutions in infrastructure providers within the crypto space, even during periods of market volatility. Rather than focusing solely on speculative tokens, investors are increasingly looking to support companies that offer solutions for custody, security, and tokenization that can seamlessly integrate with existing financial systems.

Overall, the partnership between Kresus Labs and Hanwha Investment & Securities signals a growing trend of collaboration between traditional financial institutions and innovative blockchain companies, with a focus on enhancing digital asset services and expanding the adoption of blockchain technology in the financial sector.
