Lakers winning streak extends to nine games with win over Magic

The Los Angeles Lakers faced a tough challenge on Saturday night as they took on the Orlando Magic in their third game in four nights. Despite the fatigue and the physicality of the Magic, the Lakers managed to pull off a 105-104 victory, thanks to a game-winning 3-pointer by Luke Kennard.

The Lakers started strong with Luka Doncic leading the way with 16 points in the first quarter. However, the team struggled in the following quarters, shooting just 35.9% from the field. It was Kennard who stepped up in the clutch, hitting the game-winning shot with less than a second left on the clock.

Doncic finished with 33 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and four steals, while Austin Reaves added 26 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. LeBron James contributed 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals to help secure the win.

The victory marked the Lakers’ ninth consecutive win, their best winning streak of the season, improving their record to 46-25.

The turning point of the game came after a dunk by Reaves that gave the Lakers a comfortable lead. However, the Magic responded with a 22-2 run, taking the lead late in the game before Kennard’s heroics.

Kennard was named the MVP of the game for his clutch performance, shooting 5 of 7 from the field and making key shots to keep the Lakers in contention.

One concerning stat for the Lakers was their free-throw shooting, as they missed 10 free throws against the Magic, going 19 of 29 from the line. This inconsistency from the charity stripe has been a recurring issue for the team.

Looking ahead, the Lakers will face the Detroit Pistons in their next game on Monday. The Pistons, who lead the East with a record of 51-19, will be without All-Star guard Cade Cunningham due to a collapsed lung. It will be another tough test for the Lakers as they aim to continue their winning streak on the road.
