After serving as the business operations president of the Florida Panthers for several years, Matthew Caldwell has announced his departure from the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions. Caldwell is set to take on a new role as the CEO of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx, signing a 10-year deal with the organizations.
The official announcement of Caldwell’s appointment was made by the Timberwolves and Lynx on Wednesday. He will commence his duties overseeing day-to-day business operations and strategic initiatives for the Timberwolves, Lynx, and the G League’s Iowa Wolves starting on September 2.
This move comes as part of a significant shift by the new owners of the Timberwolves and Lynx, Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez, who recently acquired full control of the franchises.
