McDonald’s to start selling refreshers and crafted sodas nationwide in May
McDonald’s is shaking things up with its beverage lineup, introducing new “refreshers” and “crafted sodas” to its menu. These exciting additions are set to hit menus in May, with the promise of energy drinks making their debut later this year as well.
In a statement to CBS News, McDonald’s US expressed their excitement for the new beverages, acknowledging the deep love fans have for their drinks. The fast-food giant plans to build on this passion by rolling out a variety of refreshers and crafted sodas nationwide. While specific details are still under wraps, the restaurant chain is eager to share more about their expanded drinks offerings in the near future.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, McDonald’s new beverages will include innovative options like a Dirty Dr Pepper and a Mango Pineapple Refresher. This move into the drinks space comes after the closure of McDonald’s beverage-oriented chain, CosMc’s, last year. The company is aiming to compete with industry giants like Starbucks and Dutch Bros by offering competitive pricing, as indicated in internal documents related to the launch.
Following the closure of CosMc’s stores, McDonald’s conducted tests of new drink combinations, such as a Sour Cherry Energy Burst, in their US locations. The company noted a growing momentum in beverages, especially among Gen Z consumers, indicating a shift towards a more beverage-focused strategy.
As McDonald’s continues to evolve its beverage offerings, customers can expect a fresh and exciting range of drinks to choose from. With a focus on quality and innovation, McDonald’s is poised to make a splash in the competitive drinks market.
