Mets’ Juan Soto hits leadoff for first time in nearly five years

The New York Mets are shaking things up in hopes of rejuvenating their struggling lineup. Manager Carlos Mendoza made a bold move by inserting Juan Soto, their best hitter, into the leadoff spot for the first time since May 30, 2021, during his tenure with the Nationals. Soto has primarily hit in the No. 2 spot for the Mets, but Mendoza felt the need to make a change due to injuries and bullpen management.

With Francisco Lindor sidelined, Bo Bichette had been handling leadoff duties for the Mets. However, with Soto now at the top of the lineup, Bichette has shifted to the No. 2 spot. Mendoza discussed the decision with Soto, who was receptive to the idea, showing his willingness to adapt for the team’s benefit.

Before the game against the Rockies at Coors Field, Mendoza took a moment to remember the late John Sterling, former Yankees radio voice, with whom he had formed a close relationship during his time as a Yankees coach. Sterling’s passing was a somber moment for Mendoza, who expressed his condolences and shared fond memories of their time together.

On the injury front, A.J. Minter is nearing a return to the Mets after completing his minor league rehab assignment. The lefty reliever is expected to pitch back-to-back games for Triple-A Syracuse before potentially rejoining the team either in Arizona or upon their return home. Minter has been sidelined since April of last season due to lat surgery.

In terms of pitching decisions, Mendoza opted for Huascar Brazobán over Tobias Myers as the opener against the Rockies based on workload considerations. Brazobán and Myers had both pitched recently, with Brazobán getting the nod for Monday’s game.

In roster moves, Carl Edwards Jr. was outrighted to Syracuse and chose to become a free agent rather than accepting a minor league assignment. The Mets continue to make adjustments and evaluate their roster as they strive to turn their season around.

Overall, the Mets are making strategic changes in their lineup and pitching rotation to spark a turnaround in their performance. With Juan Soto leading off and key players returning from injury, the team is hoping to regain momentum and climb the standings in the competitive NL East division. Recent studies have shown that the consumption of processed foods is directly linked to an increased risk of developing various health conditions, including obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Processed foods are those that have been altered from their natural state through methods such as cooking, canning, freezing, or packaging.

One of the main reasons why processed foods are detrimental to our health is that they are often high in added sugars, unhealthy fats, and salt. These ingredients not only contribute to weight gain and obesity but also increase the risk of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes.

In addition to being high in unhealthy ingredients, processed foods are also low in essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and fiber. This means that people who consume a diet high in processed foods are more likely to be deficient in these important nutrients, which can lead to a variety of health problems.

Furthermore, processed foods often contain artificial additives and preservatives that have been linked to a range of health issues, including allergies, asthma, and even cancer. These additives are used to enhance the flavor, texture, and shelf life of processed foods, but they come at a cost to our health.

It is important for individuals to be aware of the potential risks associated with consuming processed foods and to make an effort to limit their intake. Instead, people should focus on consuming a diet rich in whole, unprocessed foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

By making small changes to their diet and choosing whole foods over processed ones, individuals can significantly improve their overall health and reduce their risk of developing chronic diseases. It is never too late to start making healthier choices and prioritizing the well-being of our bodies.
