Michigan dad Andre Broadenax brings along daughter, 11, to home burglary and ditches her when homeowner arrives: prosecutors

A Father Allegedly Forces Daughter to Break Into Detroit Home, Abandons Her

A shocking incident unfolded in Detroit when a delinquent father, Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadenax, reportedly coerced his 11-year-old daughter into participating in a home invasion. The 29-year-old father, accused of stealing a car in Dearborn, Michigan, drove to a house under renovation in a residential neighborhood on April 29, according to prosecutors.

Upon breaking into the house, Broadenax allegedly forced his daughter to assist him in the burglary. However, their plans were foiled when the 75-year-old homeowner’s son unexpectedly walked in, catching the father-daughter duo in the act.

Startled by the interruption, Broadenax fled the scene, leaving behind both the stolen car and his daughter. Detroit Police Department officers apprehended the suspect on foot shortly after his attempted escape.

Neighbors, like David Bridges, expressed shock and disapproval of Broadenax’s actions. Bridges, a father of eight, condemned using children for criminal activities and highlighted the danger faced by the young girl in this situation.

Prosecutors have charged Broadenax with a series of offenses, including first-degree home invasion, second-degree home invasion, larceny in a building, receiving and concealing a motor vehicle, inducing a minor to commit a felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 14.
