Microsoft Corp. has once again achieved a milestone by surpassing $4 trillion in valuation, joining artificial intelligence chipmaker Nvidia in the exclusive club. This achievement underscores the immense investor interest and excitement surrounding artificial intelligence technologies.

In a significant development earlier today, OpenAI announced a restructuring of its ownership model, transforming its business into a public benefit corporation. This decision came after receiving approval from key regulators, including the Delaware and California attorneys general. Additionally, OpenAI disclosed a new agreement with its longstanding supporter Microsoft, granting the tech giant a substantial 27% stake in OpenAI’s newly formed for-profit entity.

Following this news, Microsoft’s stock witnessed a 2% surge, closing at $542.07 and elevating the company’s market capitalization to $4.04 trillion. This marks the second occasion that Microsoft has crossed the $4 trillion valuation threshold, positioning it alongside Nvidia in this prestigious club.

On the other hand, Apple’s shares also flirted with the $4 trillion mark earlier in the day before settling slightly higher at $269, translating to a total valuation of $3.99 trillion. Notably, Apple made history as the first publicly traded company to achieve $1 trillion, $2 trillion, and eventually $3 trillion in market capitalization, primarily driven by the phenomenal success of its iconic product, the iPhone.
