Migrants busted in LA include convicted sex abusers, drug dealers and gang members: ICE
The recent series of ICE raids in Los Angeles have resulted in the arrest of nearly 45 illegal migrants, including individuals with a history of serious criminal offenses. Among those taken into custody were convicted sex abusers, drug dealers, and gang members, according to federal immigration authorities.
One of the migrants apprehended, Rolando Veneracion-Enriquez, 55, hailing from the Philippines, has a lengthy criminal record dating back several years. He was previously sentenced to four years in prison for burglary in Ontario, Canada. Additionally, he has been convicted of sexual penetration with a foreign object with force and assault with intent to commit rape in Pomona, resulting in a 37-year prison sentence.
Another individual arrested, Jose Gregorio Medranda Ortiz, 42, from Ecuador, had previously served more than 11 years in prison for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine while on board a vessel in Tampa, Florida. Armando Ordaz, 44, a Mexican national and alleged member of the gang Bratz 13, was found guilty of sexual battery in Los Angeles and sentenced to 135 days in jail along with five years of probation.
Victor Mendoza-Aguilar, 32, also from Mexico, has a criminal history in Pasadena that includes charges for possession of controlled substances, assault with a deadly weapon, and obstructing a public officer. He is an alleged active member of the Villa Boys gang and was previously deported from the US in 2017.
Delfino Aguilar-Martinez, 51, of Mexico, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in Los Angeles and sentenced to a year in jail. Jesus Alan Hernandez-Morales, 26, also from Mexico, was removed from the US on Saturday after being sentenced for conspiracy to transport an illegal migrant in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Lionel Sanchez-Laguna, 55, of Mexico, has a criminal history in Orange that includes charges for discharging a firearm at an inhabited dwelling and vehicle, battery on a spouse or cohabitant, willful cruelty to a child, driving under the influence, assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and personal use of a firearm.
The raids have sparked controversy in Los Angeles, with Democratic Mayor Karen Bass condemning the tactics used by federal immigration agents as causing fear in the community and disrupting safety. Governor Gavin Newsom also criticized President Trump’s decision to call up the National Guard to restore order during the ensuing riots, calling it inflammatory and likely to escalate tensions.
The apprehension of these dangerous individuals underscores the importance of enforcing immigration laws to protect communities from individuals with violent criminal histories.
