‘Murciélago’ Manga Gets 2027 TV Anime Adaptation on HIDIVE

Yoshimura Kana’s popular manga series “Murciélago” is set to make its debut as a TV anime in 2027, with exclusive streaming rights in the U.S., Canada, and other select markets secured by HIDIVE. The announcement was made during Anime Expo 2026, exciting fans of the dark and thrilling series.

Originally serialized in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine in August 2013, “Murciélago” has gained a global following, with over 2.3 million copies sold worldwide across 28 volumes in Japan and 26 volumes internationally.

HIDIVE, the streaming service under AMC Global Media, will be the exclusive platform for viewers in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand to enjoy the anime adaptation of this gripping story. The plot revolves around Kuroko Koumori, a former death-row inmate turned executioner, and her partner Hinako Tozakura, a skilled driver, as they confront hidden threats within society.

The anime production boasts a talented team, with Naoya Takashi serving as chief director, Asami Matsuo as director, and Satelight and Staple Entertainment handling the animation. Character design is by Tateishi Sei, with Akita Masanori and Tsuchiya Yuichi composing the score.

To accompany the announcement, teasers, key visuals, and messages from the creators were released, generating even more anticipation for the upcoming series. Yoshimura expressed gratitude for the opportunity to see their work adapted into an anime, while Takashi shared his excitement for his role as chief director and highlighted his favorite characters from the series.

Matsuo, the director, praised the voice performances during recording and emphasized the team’s dedication to capturing the essence of the original manga while staying true to its stylish crime-action themes.

This collaboration between Takashi and Matsuo marks their second project together following the successful adaptation of “Übel Blatt.”
