My Boy Tony’s owners buy its real estate for $1.6M
Eli Cox and Mark Hansen Purchase Real Estate for My Boy Tony Bar
Eli Cox, owner of the barstools at My Boy Tony, along with business partner Mark Hansen, recently acquired the real estate for their bar located at 4280 Tennyson St. The purchase, totaling $1.6 million, includes the 1,620-square-foot corner retail building with an outdoor patio and an upstairs apartment.
Despite the change in ownership, Cox and Hansen have no immediate plans for significant alterations to the property. They secured a $1.2 million loan from Alpine Bank for the purchase, with no external investors involved in the transaction.
The building was previously owned by Nicole Sullivan, who operated BookBar in the space for approximately ten years before closing in early 2023. Sullivan expressed her satisfaction with the sale to Cox and Hansen, emphasizing her desire to preserve the historical building.
For Cox, this acquisition adds to his portfolio of Tennyson real estate ventures, including Berkeley Supply and the liquor store at 4340 Tennyson St. His commitment to maintaining the character of Tennyson Street and supporting the local community remains steadfast.
As Sullivan prepares to move out of state, she reflects on her passion for books and the impact they have had on her life. Despite selling her bookstore, The Bookies, she continues to own the real estate for the property and her nonprofit, BookGive.
Both Cox and Sullivan share a deep appreciation for Tennyson Street and its unique charm, with a common goal of preserving its authenticity amidst potential corporate development.
