‘Nashville’s Big Bash’ Live Telecast Interrupted by Technical Problems

CBS New Year’s Eve Broadcast Interrupted by Technical Snafu

CBS faced a technical snafu during the live broadcast of “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash,” causing the program to go off the air for approximately 12 minutes on Wednesday night. The interruption occurred about 50 minutes into the five and a half hour special, leaving viewers puzzled as the network unexpectedly aired an episode of “Matlock” in the interim.

The exact cause of the technical difficulties that led to the disruption remains unclear. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. PT while singer-actor Lainey Wilson was performing, only to be abruptly cut off. A voice mentioned the technical issues before the broadcast transitioned to a series of commercials, followed by the unexpected episode of “Matlock.” Hosts Bert Kreischer and country singer Hardy eventually returned after the brief hiatus to apologize for the interruption, with singer Gretchen Wilson then taking the stage.

The annual event, held at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in Nashville, featured performances by renowned country artists such as Jason Aldean, CeCe Winans, Dierks Bentley, and Keith Urban, among others. “Nashville’s Big Bash” is executive produced by Robert Deaton and Mary Hilliard Harrington in collaboration with Music City Inc., the foundation of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp.
