New Harry Potter Child Actors Can’t Use Social Media, Says Sophie Turner

Sophie Turner Expresses Concern for Child Stars in HBO’s Upcoming “Harry Potter” Series

Sophie Turner recently shared her worries about the child actors set to headline HBO’s highly anticipated “Harry Potter” series in an interview with Flaunt magazine. The series, currently in production and aiming for a 2027 premiere date, features a cast of relative newcomers portraying iconic characters such as Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Among them are Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, and Alastair Stout as Ron, who will be taking on these roles over the course of the show’s adaptation of the seven “Harry Potter” books.

Turner, known for her role as Sansa Stark in “Game of Thrones,” reflected on her own experience with fame and social media, emphasizing the toll it took on her mental health. She expressed her concerns for the young actors in the “Harry Potter” series, urging them to avoid the pitfalls of social media and prioritize their well-being amidst the spotlight. Turner emphasized the importance of maintaining a sense of normalcy and grounding in the midst of the industry’s demands.

The casting process for the “Harry Potter” series involved a staggering 32,000 child auditions for the lead roles, culminating in the selection of a talented young ensemble including Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, among others.

To support the young actors’ education during filming, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, the production home for the series, has constructed a temporary school facility. This initiative, approved by Three Rivers District Council, will accommodate up to 600 pupils during peak filming periods and ensure that the young stars can balance their academic studies with their acting commitments.

With a premiere scheduled for 2027, HBO’s “Harry Potter” series is poised to capture the hearts of fans old and new, while also providing a platform for emerging talent to shine on screen.
