New video shows Bryan Kohberger calmly shopping just hours after murdering four students
The chilling new footage captures Bryan Kohberger’s nonchalant demeanor as he attempted to shop at Costco just hours after brutally murdering four University of Idaho students. Kohberger, dressed in a green button-up shirt, dark pants, and sneakers, was seen engaging in casual conversation with a greeter at the members-only supermarket in Clarkston, Washington. Despite the gruesome crime he had committed, he sipped from a water bottle and kept his injured left hand, which was wounded during the murders, concealed in his pocket.
The video, originally obtained by crime podcaster Gray Hughes, also shows Kohberger visiting a coffee shop and an Albertsons supermarket on the same day as the killings. Another clip captures him in the white Hyundai Elantra that ultimately played a crucial role in his capture.
Hughes expressed his shock at Kohberger’s seemingly oblivious behavior, describing him as a “clueless-type person” who appeared unfazed by the heinous acts he had committed. The podcaster noted that Kohberger was turned away from Costco for not being a member, highlighting the eerie disconnect between his actions and his demeanor.
Kohberger’s casual demeanor in the footage is particularly unsettling, as he appears to go about his day as if nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. Despite the magnitude of his crimes, those around him would never have suspected his involvement in the murders just hours earlier.
Kohberger ultimately pleaded guilty to the brutal slayings of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, and Xana Kernodle at their off-campus residence. However, he offered no motive for his actions. In a controversial move, Kohberger avoided the death penalty by accepting four life sentences in prison as part of his plea deal, sparing the victims’ families the ordeal of a trial.
The haunting footage serves as a stark reminder of the senseless violence that can shatter lives in an instant, leaving a community reeling in its wake. Kohberger’s callous actions and his subsequent attempt to carry on with his day as if nothing had happened underscore the chilling reality of evil that lurks among us.
