Norway is switching hotels ahead of World Cup quarterfinal clash
Norway has decided to change hotels in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., ahead of their World Cup clash with England due to complaints from players about noise from nearby construction and traffic. The team will now be staying closer to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens after spending just one night at The Dalmar hotel, as reported by The Independent.
Several players voiced their concerns to team management, leading to an official complaint to FIFA requesting the change. Norway’s logistics manager, Truls Daehli, stated, “It is brutal having to move but we are satisfied with the new place and everyone is happy now. Some people might fear that this will affect the players, but it was the players who wanted this more than anyone else. We have strong people in our support team and managed to move in two-and-a-half hours. The process of changing hotel is not ideal but we wanted to take action as soon as possible. Having a good atmosphere is most important.”
The Norwegian team will be staying in Miami for a week before their crucial match against England, which is being hailed as the biggest match in Norwegian history. FIFA has approved the hotel switch, with the governing body covering the cost of 50 rooms and security at the new location. Additionally, Norway’s football association will cover any additional charges for upgraded player requests.
Saturday’s game against England will mark a historic moment for Norway, as they have reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the first time. This achievement also signifies Norway’s first appearance in the World Cup in 28 years.
