Nutjob with 86 arrests slugs stranger onto NYC subway tracks in terrifying anti-Asian spree: sources

A repeat offender with a long history of arrests, Clive Porter, 33, was recently arrested for a series of random anti-Asian attacks in Manhattan. Porter, who has been arrested 86 times in the past, was released due to the state’s bail reform laws before carrying out these attacks.

The first incident occurred at the Bowery and Delancey Street station, where Porter allegedly punched a 45-year-old man in the face, causing him to fall onto the subway tracks. Witnesses reported hearing Porter uttering racist remarks before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained a swollen eye but was able to climb back onto the platform.

Porter was apprehended less than an hour later and charged with assault as a hate crime, harassment, and reckless endangerment. While in custody, he reportedly assaulted two police officers, adding to his already extensive criminal record.

Further investigations revealed that Porter was also responsible for several other attacks earlier the same day. These incidents included punching a 72-year-old man, assaulting a 33-year-old Asian man, attempting to pickpocket an elderly woman, and attacking another elderly woman.

Porter’s criminal history includes 61 felonies, 24 misdemeanors, and one violation. In a previous incident, he brandished a knife and assaulted a man before being granted supervised release. Despite numerous arrests and violent incidents, Porter has been repeatedly released due to the non-bail-eligible charges against him.

In addition to the recent attacks, Porter has been arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, criminal trespass in the transit system, assault with an ice pick, and hate speech incidents involving swastikas and anti-gay messages. His pattern of violence and hate speech highlights the failures of the justice system in addressing repeat offenders like Porter.
