NYC muggers pummel man, 66, then try to pick his pockets as he lays dying: cops

Authorities have recently released new images of two assailants who brutally attacked a 66-year-old man in the Bronx, leaving him with fatal injuries. Wesley James was walking near his home on East Tremont Avenue when the attackers approached him and violently assaulted him, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement. Despite James being incapacitated, the muggers callously attempted to rob him as he lay wounded.

Following the attack, James was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where he initially remained in stable condition. However, his health gradually deteriorated, and he tragically passed away on November 3rd due to the severe injuries sustained during the assault. His death was attributed to blunt force trauma, resulting in a traumatic brain injury.

The perpetrators, who failed to steal anything from James, fled the scene empty-handed. The NYPD has since reclassified the case as a homicide and released photos of the suspects who are currently at large. Despite ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
