‘Oldboy’ Scribe’s Disney+ Crime Thriller ‘Gold Land’ Sets April Bow

Disney+ has announced the premiere date for a new Korean crime thriller titled “Gold Land,” written by acclaimed screenwriter Hwang Jo-yoon, known for his work on “Oldboy” and “Memoir of a Murderer.” The series is set to debut on April 29 and will mark Hwang Jo-yoon’s streaming debut.

“Gold Land” follows the story of a woman named Kim Heeju, played by Park Bo-young, whose relationship with a pilot leads her into a dangerous world of smuggling. Manipulated into assisting smugglers, she finds herself fleeing with stolen gold, making her way back to her hometown which she had left behind. Kim Sung-cheol portrays Woogy, one of her pursuers from the smuggling ring, in this thrilling tale directed by Kim Sung-hoon.

The series will premiere with two episodes on April 29, followed by two episodes released weekly until the finale on May 27. This exciting new addition to Disney+ promises to captivate viewers with its gripping storyline and talented cast.

In addition to “Gold Land,” Disney+ has also announced the premiere of “Perfect Crown,” a romantic comedy starring IU and Byeon Woo-seok. The series revolves around a beloved royal family member who enters into a strategic marriage with a corporate dynasty heir, only to find their calculated arrangement complicated by genuine feelings. Directed by Park Joon-hwa and written by Yoo Ji-won, “Perfect Crown” will be available for streaming internationally on Disney+ and on Hulu in the United States starting April 10.

These new additions to Disney+’s Korean programming lineup join a diverse array of content, including “Portraits of Delusion” with Suzy and Kim Seon-ho, “The Remarried Empress” with Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk, and Lee Se-young, as well as second seasons of “Made In Korea” and “A Shop For Killers.” The platform already offers popular series such as “Made In Korea,” “Tempest,” and “Battle of Fates,” catering to a wide range of preferences among viewers.

With a mix of thrilling crime dramas, romantic comedies, and captivating series, Disney+ continues to expand its Korean content offerings, promising an exciting lineup for fans of Korean entertainment.
