SPOILER ALERT: “The Pirate Dinner” Episode of “Landman” Takes a Swipe at “The View”

SPOILER ALERT: If you haven’t watched Season 2, Episode 5 of “Landman,” titled “The Pirate Dinner,” be prepared for some light spoilers from the episode which aired on Paramount+.

“The View,” the popular daytime talk show, got some unexpected shade thrown its way in the latest episode of “Landman.”

In the scene, Tommy (played by Billy Bob Thornton) suggests to his father, T.L. (portrayed by Sam Elliott), that they watch “The View” to pass the time. However, T.L. confesses he’s unfamiliar with the show. Tommy describes it as, “A bunch of pissed-off millionaires bitching about how much they hate millionaires and Trump and men and you and me and everybody else they got a bee up their ass about. It’s pretty funny.”

T.L. responds skeptically, “Don’t sound funny.”

Tommy explains further, “Well, it ain’t joke funny, it’s like ‘fart in church’ funny, you know what I mean?”

T.L. retorts, “That don’t sound funny, either.”

Tommy clarifies, “Well, it depends on your proximity to the fart.”

The show’s co-creator, Sheridan, often uses Tommy’s character to share his thoughts on various topics, from renewable energy to radio personalities. While real-life pop culture references are rare on the show, this jab at “The View” stood out.
