Thief Steals Over $100,000 Worth of Rare Pokemon Trading Cards

A daring thief managed to swipe more than $100,000 worth of rare Pokémon trading cards from a small shop in Massachusetts. The incident occurred at 1st Edition Collectibles in New Bedford, where the bandit used a hammer to break open the door around 2:30 a.m. last Tuesday.

The masked burglar quickly targeted a display case containing high-end collectibles, stuffed them into a bag, and fled the scene within 30 seconds, according to one of the store owners, William Gilmour.

The stolen items included five rare Pokémon trading cards and vintage box sets, with an estimated value of $100,000 to $113,000. Among the stolen cards were a BGS 8.5 First Edition Shadowless Charizard and a BGS 7.5 First Edition Shadowless Blastoise.

The shop owners, who are passionate about Pokémon collectibles and vintage video games, expressed their dismay over the theft. They plan to reopen the shop soon, despite the setback.

Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the robbery, with no arrests made yet. The New Bedford Police Department has not provided any further comments on the matter.

Pokémon, which gained immense popularity in the 1990s as a Japanese video game, has since expanded into trading cards, animated series, movies, and merchandise featuring iconic characters like Pikachu.
