Read Nick Bilton’s Letter to Scott Pelley

Dear Mr. Pelley:

I wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the chance to be a part of the esteemed 60 Minutes team. I have always admired the dedication to investigative journalism and storytelling that the show represents. My intention in joining 60 Minutes was to collaborate and learn from the experienced veterans, including yourself. Unfortunately, my efforts to reach out and engage in a constructive dialogue were met with hostility and disrespect. It is disappointing that our initial interaction was marred by confrontation rather than cooperation.

I believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment where different perspectives are valued. However, it is clear that our visions for the future of the show are not aligned. As a result, I have made the difficult decision to terminate your employment with CBS effective immediately. I have enclosed your formal termination letter for your reference.

I remain committed to delivering high-quality news programming and I look forward to working with those who share this commitment.
