Samsung Galaxy A27 Appears on Geekbench ahead of Launch
The Samsung Galaxy A27 was highly anticipated to launch alongside the Galaxy A57 and A37 models, but to the surprise of many, it was a no-show during the initial reveal. Recent findings from a Geekbench listing shed some light on the possible reason behind the delay.
Geekbench, a benchmark app and database used to assess chipset performance, showcased impressive scores for the Samsung Galaxy A27. The device scored 777 in the single-core test and 1802 in the multi-core test, showcasing its capabilities as a budget-friendly phone. What caught the attention of many tech enthusiasts was the chipset listed in the results – the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. This marks a significant departure from Samsung’s usual strategy of using its own Exynos chipsets in budget phones.
Traditionally, Samsung has relied on Exynos chips for its affordable phone range, including models like the Galaxy A57, A37, and last year’s Galaxy A26. The use of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset in the Galaxy A27 is a departure from this norm, as this Qualcomm chip was previously featured in the Galaxy A36. This move to a higher-performing chipset may explain the delay in the A27’s launch.
The Geekbench listing also revealed that the Galaxy A27 tested had 6GB of RAM, though it is expected that there will be variations in RAM capacity across different models. For comparison, the 256GB version of the Galaxy A26 comes with 8GB of RAM.
It remains to be seen if the inclusion of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset in the Galaxy A27 will lead to a price increase. Samsung has been implementing pricing adjustments across its entire phone lineup for 2026, with the Galaxy A57 already commanding a slightly higher price than its predecessor. The Galaxy S26 range saw a significant price hike, with the standard Galaxy S26 costing £100/$100 more than the previous year’s model.
Even existing Samsung handsets like the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and S25 Edge are set to see price increases in South Korea, with the possibility of these hikes extending to other regions. As Samsung continues to adjust its pricing strategy, consumers will need to stay tuned for updates on the pricing of the Galaxy A27 and other Samsung devices.
