Key Executive Danish Khan to Depart Sony Pictures Networks India

After a successful decade at Sony Pictures Networks India, Danish Khan, the business head of streaming platform SonyLIV and production unit Studio NXT, will be leaving the company at the end of March 2026. His departure marks the end of a 20-year relationship with the company, spanning two separate stints.

Khan will continue in his role until March 31 to ensure a smooth transition and business continuity, as confirmed by SPNI on Thursday.

Leading SonyLIV since 2019, Khan spearheaded the platform’s relaunch as SonyLIV 2.0 and significantly expanded the digital business. During his tenure, the streaming service experienced tremendous growth, with more than five-fold revenue increase and a fourfold rise in monthly active users. SonyLIV also contributed nearly 25% of SPNI’s overall revenue, delivering hit series like “Scam,” “Maharani,” “Rocket Boys,” “Freedom at Midnight,” “Tabbar,” and “Shark Tank.”

Prior to his role at SonyLIV, Khan served as business head for Sony Entertainment Television, where he oversaw the creation of popular non-fiction and fiction shows. He also founded Studio NXT, producing successful programs like “Shark Tank,” “Freedom at Midnight,” and “Kaun Banega Crorepati.”

Gaurav Banerjee, MD and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India, expressed gratitude for Khan’s contributions, stating, “Danish has been a key part of SPNI’s growth journey over the years, contributing across television, studio, and digital businesses.” He wished Khan success in his future endeavors.

Khan reflected on his time at SPNI, saying, “Sony Pictures Networks India has been an incredibly important part of my professional journey.” He expressed gratitude for the support and trust he received and wished continued success for SonyLIV and Studio NXT.

Sony Pictures Networks India will announce succession plans at a later date as Khan prepares to embark on a new chapter in his career.
