Suspect arrested in shooting of Missouri’s Ahmad Hardy

Suspect Arrested in Shooting of Missouri Star Running Back Ahmad Hardy

Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting of Missouri star running back Ahmad Hardy earlier this week. Rashodrick Harris, a 20-year-old from Mississippi, was taken into custody in Paducah, Ky., and is set to be charged with two counts of aggravated assault, according to Sgt. Macon Davis of the Laurel Police Department. The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests may follow.

Harris will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Three other individuals were initially taken into custody but have since been released without charges. The Laurel police were able to identify Harris as the suspect through security footage and a witness interview, leading to an arrest warrant being issued.

Hardy, an All-American RB for the Tigers, was shot in the upper leg while attending a concert at a biker club in Laurel. He underwent surgery in Mississippi and returned to Columbia, Mo., on Wednesday.

“Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family, and fans,” a statement from the football program said. “We will continue to stand beside him and his family, offering our love, prayers, strength, and support. A timeline for his return to football activities is unknown at this time.”

Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz stated that Hardy’s status for the upcoming season remains uncertain. Hardy led the SEC in rushing yards and touchdowns last season, being a finalist for the Doak Walker Award. Despite the uncertainty, many NFL mock drafts have already projected him as the top running back for next year’s draft.
