Suspected gunman in CDC shooting had grievance toward Covid vaccine: Sources
The tragic incident that unfolded at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s campus late Friday has left many in shock and disbelief. The suspected shooter, identified as Patrick White, is said to have harbored deep-seated grievances against the COVID-19 vaccine, blaming it for his deteriorating mental and physical health.
According to sources close to White, he had been struggling with his mental well-being and had become increasingly fixated on the belief that the COVID-19 vaccine was responsible for his ailments. Residents from the Kennesaw neighborhood where White resided reported that he often expressed anger and conspiracy theories related to the vaccine. One neighbor recalled how White had complained of significant weight loss, swallowing difficulties, and gastrointestinal issues post-vaccination, believing that the media and government were covering up the adverse effects.
White’s father declined to comment on his son’s state of mind, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation leading the probe has refrained from speculating on a motive at this time. It is important to note that medical experts assert that mRNA vaccines, like those developed for COVID-19, have undergone rigorous testing and have been instrumental in saving lives during the pandemic. Despite the politicization and misinformation surrounding the vaccines, they are deemed safe and effective by health authorities.
In the wake of the shooting, all CDC employees, except essential on-site personnel, have been instructed to work remotely as law enforcement agencies intensify monitoring and security measures to safeguard the staff. The incident, which claimed the life of DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose, is being treated as a targeted attack on the CDC linked to COVID-19.
As investigations continue to unravel the events leading up to the shooting, the community remains in mourning, grappling with the senseless loss of life and the repercussions of this tragic incident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families during this difficult time.
