The Orangery, IP Studio Behind ‘Sweet Paprika,’ Signs With WME
The William Morris Endeavor Agency has recently signed a deal with The Orangery, a European transmedia company that holds the rights to popular graphic novels and comic book series such as “Traveling to Mars” and “Sweet Paprika.”
The Orangery was founded by Davide G.G. Caci, CEO of Arancia Studio in Italy, along with producer/screenwriter Alessandro Regaldo and transmedia/publishing executive Renato Franchi. The company has a strong track record of developing and publishing titles in over 25 countries, with sales exceeding 3 million copies. One of their notable works is “Hexware,” a supernatural cyberpunk horror comic series created by Tim Seeley and Zulema Scotto Lavina.
Among The Orangery’s top titles are “Traveling to Mars” by Mark Russell and Roberto Meli, which follows a former pet store manager as the first human to set foot on Mars, and “Sweet Paprika” by Mirka Andolfo, depicting a career-driven woman’s erotic adventures. Andolfo’s works have sold over 1 million copies worldwide, many of which are published by Image Comics in the U.S.
The Orangery specializes in developing original properties across various media platforms such as film, TV, gaming, and podcasts. They are set to launch around 20 new projects in the next two years, aiming to create international, cross-media franchises.
WME expressed their excitement about partnering with The Orangery, praising their European IP engine with a global mindset. They believe that The Orangery’s expertise in storytelling and format design aligns well with WME’s global reach and strategic vision, making them the perfect partner to help their stories evolve into successful multimedia franchises.
