‘The Traitors’ Season 2 Greenlit by Prime Video India After Hit Debut
Prime Video India has officially announced the renewal of “The Traitors” for a second season, following the massive success of the Indian adaptation of the BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning global format.
Development for Season 2 is currently underway, building on the foundation laid by the first season. The show is set against the majestic backdrop of a palace in Suryagarh, Rajasthan, and is hosted by renowned filmmaker Karan Johar. The inaugural season brought together 20 well-known personalities from the entertainment industry, creating what the network describes as “the ultimate game of trust and deception.” The star-studded cast includes Anshula Kapoor, Ashish Vidyarthi, Elnaaz Nourouzi, Harsh Gujral, Jannat Zubair, Jasmin Bhasin, Karan Kundrra, Lakshmi Manchu, Maheep Kapoor, Mukesh Chhabra, Raftaar, Raj Kundra, Sudhanshu Pandey, and Uorfi Javed, among others.
In the game, traitors are secretly chosen at the beginning, while the remaining contestants must collaborate to uncover them before facing elimination themselves.
“The Traitors” premiered on June 12, with new episodes releasing every Thursday. The show has quickly become a cultural phenomenon, captivating audiences across 88% of India’s postcodes and sparking social media discussions with fan reactions and theories.

Produced by BBC Studios India Productions in partnership with All3Media International, the Indian adaptation of “The Traitors” stays true to the core essence of the format while infusing fresh elements. The format, originally created by IDTV, has rapidly gained popularity globally, with over 35 local versions in more than 30 countries.

Recognized as K7’s Format of the Year in 2024, “The Traitors” has been commissioned in over 30 territories, with more than 50 territories broadcasting episodes through tape sales.
