Chrissy Metz Joins Cast of Apple TV+ Crime Drama
Chrissy Metz has been confirmed as the latest addition to the star-studded cast of Apple TV+’s upcoming crime drama based on Lars Kepler’s Joona Linna books. Metz joins a talented ensemble including Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, Stephen Graham, Bill Camp, and Rory Culkin. The series, which has been greenlit for 10 episodes, is set to commence production in Pittsburgh this summer.
The official synopsis of the show reads: “The project follows Jonah Lynn (Schreiber), a former soldier turned homicide detective who relocates to a quiet town in Western Pennsylvania to escape the chaos of Philadelphia. However, when the town faces a ruthless serial killer named Jurek Walter (Graham), Jonah must do everything in his power to protect his loved ones. As the hunt for Jurek’s final victim intensifies, Jonah is forced to make a difficult decision involving his adopted daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz).”
In the series, Metz will portray Ida, a single mother who is plunged into a nightmare when her children mysteriously vanish.
Chrissy Metz gained widespread acclaim for her role in the popular NBC drama “This Is Us,” where she showcased her exceptional talent over the course of six seasons, earning Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. Her versatility has been demonstrated in other TV shows such as “American Horror Story: Freak Show” and “The Last OG,” with upcoming appearances in the Netflix series “The Hunting Wives.” Metz’s film credits include “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser” and “Breakthrough.”

The series is helmed by writers and showrunners Rowan Joffe and John Hlavin, with executive producers Liev Schreiber and Zazie Beetz under Sleepy Poppy. The first two episodes will be directed by Tim Van Patten. Additional executive producers include Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril, Alexander Ahndoril, Oystein Karlsen, David Rysdahl, Dorothy Fortenberry, and Niclas Salomonsson. Julie Herrin serves as co-executive producer. Produced by A+E Studios in association with Range Studios, the show promises to deliver a gripping narrative inspired by Lars Kepler’s bestselling novels.
Lars Kepler, the pseudonym for the writing duo Coelho Ahndoril and Ahndori, has garnered international acclaim for their Joona Linna series, with over 18 million copies sold worldwide. The first book, “The Hypnotist,” was adapted into a Swedish film in 2012. The adaptation of their work into a series is highly anticipated by fans of the crime genre.
