Trump, pushing for Ciattarelli, says New Jersey ‘ready to pop out of blue horror show’

President Trump Urges New Jersey Voters to Support Republican Gubernatorial Candidate
President Donald Trump is throwing his support behind Republican Jack Ciattarelli in New Jersey’s upcoming gubernatorial primary. Early in-person voting begins tomorrow, and Trump is calling on voters to choose a change after years of Democratic control in the state.
Trump, who owns golf clubs in New Jersey and frequently stays at his Bedminster property, announced his endorsement of Ciattarelli last month. The president held a telephone rally for the candidate on Monday, emphasizing the need for a shift in leadership.

During the phone call, Trump highlighted the choice between maintaining a “high-tax, high-crime sanctuary state” or opting for a new direction. Ciattarelli, a former state lawmaker, has vowed to end sanctuary policies for immigrants in the country illegally if elected. These policies limit cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration officers.
Ciattarelli also promised not to bring lawsuits against the White House if elected, contrasting with the current attorney general’s challenges to Trump’s agenda. The primary election features Ciattarelli facing off against several other Republican candidates, including former radio talk host Bill Spadea and state Sen. Jon Bramnick.
Early in-person voting starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday, with the primary scheduled for June 10. Ciattarelli hinted at potential attacks against his Democratic challenger in the general election, criticizing the party’s track record in the governorship and legislature.

On the Democratic side, the field includes contenders like Reps. Josh Gottheimer and Mikie Sherrill, Mayors Ras Baraka and Steven Fulop, former state Senate President Steve Sweeney, and teacher’s union president Sean Spiller. New Jersey typically leans Democratic in presidential and Senate elections, but independents and swing voters play a crucial role in gubernatorial races.
As the primary unfolds, Trump’s endorsement and Ciattarelli’s platform are shaping the narrative for the upcoming election. Voters will have the opportunity to choose a candidate who aligns with their priorities and vision for the future of New Jersey.
