United Airlines resumes operations after brief nationwide mainline ground stop
United Airlines experienced a nationwide ground stop for its mainline flights following an emergency alarm at its Chicago operations center on Thursday night.
The company explained to Fox News Digital that a fire alarm triggered the evacuation of employees to a backup facility, resulting in a temporary nationwide ground stop for United aircraft.
After employees returned to the primary operations center, the ground stop was lifted.
The company confirmed that no flights were diverted and that its regional line, United Express, remained unaffected.
With a fleet of 1,023 aircraft, United Airlines boasts the largest fleet among American airlines, as reported by Business Insider.
