UnitedHealthcare fires worker Alison King for Trump assassination attempt comment
UnitedHealthcare has recently made headlines after firing a woman who made controversial comments in a TikTok video regarding the shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. In the video, the woman sarcastically expressed disappointment that President Donald Trump was not killed in the attack, saying, “Aww, they missed?”
The woman, identified as Alison King, who worked as a social media manager for UnitedHealthcare, went on to express her disbelief and lack of sympathy towards the incident. She stated, “We’re cooked as a country when my first reaction to hearing the news about Trump’s attempt was, ‘It was probably fake,’” followed by her disturbing comment, “Aww, they missed? So happy they missed.” These remarks drew widespread criticism and backlash.
In response to the video, UnitedHealthcare issued a statement to Fox News Digital, denouncing violence and disassociating themselves from King’s comments. The company stated, “Violence is never acceptable and any comments that suggest otherwise are in no way consistent with our mission and values. The person who made comments online about Saturday night’s incident at a Washington event where President Trump and many other political leaders were gathered is no longer employed by the company.”
The video also sparked outrage on social media, with many users condemning King’s remarks. A tweet highlighting King’s comments and her employment with UnitedHealthcare went viral, further intensifying the public scrutiny.
The shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner involved a suspect named Cole Tomas Allen, who was arrested after opening fire at the Washington Hilton Hotel where the event was taking place. Authorities revealed that Allen had intentions to target Trump administration officials in the attack. As a result, he is now facing the possibility of life in prison for his actions.
It is worth noting that this incident is not the first time UnitedHealthcare has been associated with a shooting. In December 2024, the CEO of the company, Brian Thompson, was tragically shot to death in Midtown Manhattan. The suspected shooter, Luigi Mangione, is currently awaiting a court ruling on motions to suppress evidence and statements from his arrest in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Overall, the controversy surrounding Alison King’s TikTok video and subsequent termination from UnitedHealthcare serve as a reminder of the importance of responsible and ethical behavior, especially when representing a reputable company. The incident also underscores the serious consequences of making insensitive and inflammatory remarks online.
