University of Georgia student Jayden Barreto dies after jumping from cliff into Alabama lake celebrating graduation

A tragic incident occurred during a graduation trip for a University of Georgia graduate, Jayden Barreto, who lost his life after jumping off a cliff into Lake Martin in Alabama. Witnesses reported that Barreto never resurfaced after leaping from Chimney Rock, a popular spot for thrill-seekers at the lake.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and conducted an extensive search for Barreto, eventually recovering his body from an underwater shelf about 50 feet below the surface of the lake. The depth of the lake is said to be at least 70 feet beyond the drop-off point, making it a dangerous spot for cliff jumping.
