Anthony “Tony” Eugene Amatullo Jr., a beloved former Warner Bros. executive and producer known for his work on iconic TV shows like “ER” and “The West Wing,” passed away on Sunday in Manhattan at the age of 76. His son, Nicolas Amatullo, confirmed the news, marking the end of a remarkable career in the entertainment industry.

Amatullo’s journey in Hollywood began as a location manager, working on commercials, television, and film projects such as “The Goonies” and “The Color Purple.” He then transitioned to become an associate producer on hit TV series like “Fame” and “Miami Vice” before eventually rising to the position of Vice President of Production at Warner Bros. There, he made significant contributions to shows like “ER,” “The West Wing,” and “Third Watch,” showcasing his talent for balancing creativity, logistics, and personalities in the fast-paced world of television production.

In a touching statement shared by Nicolas, he reflected on his father’s approach to producing, likening it to walking a tightrope with finesse and grace. Amatullo’s passion for storytelling and his ability to navigate complex projects with a steady hand left a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.

After his tenure at Warner Bros., Amatullo continued to champion independent television and film projects, including the acclaimed film “Two Days in the Valley” and the reality series “Beverly Hills Pawn.” His final project, “Surviving on LES,” marked his directorial debut and received critical acclaim for its compelling storytelling.

Born and raised in the vibrant neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan, Amatullo’s love for storytelling was nurtured from a young age. He pursued his passion by earning a bachelor’s degree in Film, Cinema, and Video Studies from the City University of New York before making the move to Los Angeles to kickstart his career in the entertainment industry. As a proud member of the Directors Guild of America, Amatullo left a lasting mark on the industry with his dedication and talent.

Nicolas fondly recalled his father’s love for life’s simple pleasures, from tending to his garden to perfecting his pizza-making skills in Pasadena. Amatullo’s daily routine included swimming, fishing, and exploring flea markets in search of hidden treasures, showcasing his adventurous spirit and zest for life.

Amatullo is survived by his loving wife, Mariana Victoria, and his two sons, Nicolas and Leonardo. His legacy as a talented producer, storyteller, and cherished family man will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
