‘We believe Nancy is still out there’: Latest on search for Savannah Guthrie’s missing mother

The search for Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, has reached its fifth day as her family continues to plead for her safe return. Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reportedly abducted from her Arizona home while she was asleep early Sunday morning. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated during a press briefing that there are no suspects or persons of interest in the case at this time.

Authorities found Nancy Guthrie’s blood on her porch, adding to the urgency of the situation. She was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills area, north of Tucson, on Saturday night. Her family reported her missing on Sunday when she did not show up to church as planned.

Savannah Guthrie and her siblings made an emotional plea for their mother’s return in a video message shared on social media. They expressed their deep concern and love for their mother, emphasizing her fragile health and the urgent need for her medication to survive.

The sheriff’s department is investigating possible ransom notes received by local media outlets, including ABC Tucson affiliate KGUN. Savannah Guthrie addressed the reports of a ransom letter, emphasizing the family’s willingness to cooperate but also the need for confirmation that Nancy is alive and in good health.

The FBI has joined the investigation, providing additional resources and expertise to aid in the search for Nancy Guthrie. Surveillance footage from the home’s security cameras is being sought, with Google confirming their assistance in the investigation involving Nest home security cameras.

Anyone with information on Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department or call 911. The Guthrie family remains hopeful for Nancy’s safe return and appreciates any support from the community in bringing her home.
