When Will my Phone Get Android 16?

Google officially unveiled Android 16 on 13 May 2025, bringing a slew of changes to the Android operating system. One of the most significant updates is the introduction of the new ‘Material 3 Expressive’ design, along with redesigned apps and enhanced customization options. With these changes, Android 16 has embraced a full Gen Z aesthetic, catering to the preferences of the younger generation.

The rollout of Android 16 began with Pixel phones, with Google pushing the update to its devices on 10 June. However, the Material 3 Expressive design change was not included in this initial release. Instead, it was rolled out separately after the announcement of the Pixel 10 phones, starting on 3 September 2025.

Various other smartphone brands are also in the process of updating their devices to Android 16. Samsung, known for its extensive range of phones, started the rollout of One UI 8, based on Android 16, on 15 September 2025. The update began with the Galaxy S25 and is expected to cover a wide range of Samsung devices by the end of the year.

Honor, on the other hand, has committed to providing seven years of software support for its Magic devices, making it one of the top manufacturers for Android updates. Honor has confirmed that the Magic 400, 400 Pro, Magic 7 Pro, and Magic V3 will receive the Android 16 update by the end of 2025.

OnePlus has announced that OxygenOS 16, based on Android 16, will be rolled out starting on 16 October. Similarly, Xiaomi will update its devices to Android 16 under the HyperOS 3 skin, with a soft release expected between December 2025 and March 2026.

Motorola has already initiated the Android 16 push with the Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Fusion, and Edge 50 Pro models. Nothing, including CMF, is expected to update its phones to Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, with an active beta program currently running.

Oppo is set to showcase ColorOS 16, based on Android 16, on 15 October, likely preceding the rollout to more devices. Sony has already updated the Xperia 1 VII to Android 16, setting the pace for other brands.

Asus, known for its Zenfone and ROG Phone series, has an ongoing Android 16 beta for some of its devices, with an expected rollout to devices like the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition.

Overall, the Android 16 update brings a fresh look and feel to smartphones, catering to the evolving preferences of users and enhancing the overall user experience. With various brands committed to providing timely updates, users can expect to enjoy the latest features and improvements on their devices in the near future.
