Will My Sky Q Box Still Work?
The shift towards streaming services is becoming more prevalent, with Sky announcing the discontinuation of new sales for the Sky Q box on its website. This change was first noticed on December 10, 2025, signaling a move towards promoting other Sky products like Sky Glass, Sky Glass Air, and Sky Stream.
Existing Sky Q customers need not worry about losing support for their current boxes, as confirmed on the Sky forum page. A Sky Community Manager reassured users that there will be no changes to how existing customers can manage their packages online or through the My Sky App. Updates and software support for Sky Q will continue as usual, with the focus now on attracting new customers to internet-based products.
For new customers interested in Sky Q, although online purchases have been halted, orders can still be placed by calling Sky or visiting retail stores. Sky Q offers benefits such as local recordings, no lag for live sports, and the ability to record multiple shows simultaneously. In comparison, Sky Stream and Glass provide alternatives without the need for a dish, offering flexibility and easy setup.
Sky Stream, in particular, features a small and convenient streaming puck, while Sky Glass offers an all-in-one TV setup for those looking to upgrade their entertainment system. These options cater to different preferences and needs, ensuring that customers can choose the best fit for their viewing habits.
